Plumbers & Steamfitters Endorse Dave Min
IRVINE, CA — Today, the United Association Local 582 announced their endorsement of Dave Min for US Congress in California’s 47th Congressional District. The announcement follows the Orange County Labor Federation’s recommendation of Dave Min for endorsement by the state federation. UA Plumbers & Steamfitters lu 582 joins CWA lu 9510 in endorsing Sen. Min for Congress this week. Min has also built a political coalition including statewide labor organizations–the Service Employees International Union and the California Federation of Teachers–as well as an impressive cohort of locals and councils, including Teamsters Joint Council 42, IBEW locals 47 and 441, LAPPL, and IUPAT District Council 36, in endorsing California State Senator Dave Min. With unanimous support from Orange County organized labor, Sen. Min has emerged as working families’ choice for CA-47.
“Sen. Min is a great candidate,” said Robert James, Business Manager at UA Local 582. “He has the qualities and demeanor to represent the district in Congress. We fully endorse his candidacy in this upcoming election.”
UA Plumbers & Steamfitters lu 582 represents over 1000 plumbers, steamfitters and welders including journeymen, apprentices and retirees. Founded in 1937, Local 582 has been an integral pathway to the middle class for generations of Orange County residents, and is notably the only UA local in Orange County. Their membership is composed of workers at Disneyland, UC Irvine, the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, the Robert B. Diemer Water Treatment Plant, John Wayne Airport, Angel’s Stadium, and countless other Orange County landmarks.
After impressive fundraising hauls in the first three quarters of this year, Dave Min continues to set the pace for Katie Porter’s open Congressional seat by adding to his political coalition. Min has consolidated support from local, state, and national endorsers, and entered the race with support from current CA-47 Representative, Katie Porter. In recent months, Min has announced the endorsements of California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Attorney General Rob Bonta, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Insurance Commissioner Ricard Lara, Superintendent of Public Schools Tony Thurmond, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus’s political leadership ASPIRE PAC, more than 60 local Orange County government officials, and more than 60 state legislators.
