Min Releases Statement on Trump Verdict

IRVINE, CA —California  State Senator Dave Min, the Democratic Nominee in California’s 47th Congressional District– the most contested House race in the country– issued the following statement concerning the Trump verdict:

“Today’s unanimous verdict—which came from a jury of 12 of Donald Trump’s peers—was a clear signal that the rule of law still applies in America today, and that no one, no matter how powerful, is above the law. It also means that my Republican opponent Scott Baugh is now officially supporting a convicted felon. That makes perfect sense, because Scott Baugh has spent his career violating the law at every turn. While I started my career prosecuting corporate fraud at the SEC and went on to teach law at UC Irvine, Scott Baugh was hatching criminal schemes such as the campaign finance fraud that resulted in his being indicted for 22 criminal counts—including 4 felonies—or the Orange County GOP’s voter fraud scheme that led to 12 Republican staffers being arrested.”

Min has assembled an impressive coalition of support. In addition to being on the DCCC’s Red to Blue List of priority challengers for the House, Senator Min is endorsed by outgoing Rep. Katie Porter, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and over 50 local elected officials. He is also the consensus choice of Teachers, Police, Firefighters, and Organized Labor, with major endorsements including the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Police Officers Research Association of California, the International Association of Firefighters, SEIU, AFSCME, Teamsters, AFL-CIO, and the California Labor Federation.
