Dave Min’s GOTV Weekend Rally in CA-47 Brings Out Big Names and Big Momentum Ahead of Election Day
IRVINE– In a powerhouse weekend that saw 10,000 doors knocked and a packed rally with former President Bill Clinton, California State Senator Dave Min’s campaign showcased the massive momentum driving his bid to keep CA-47 blue. With just over a week until Election Day, Min’s campaign is heading into the final stretch with a coalition of supporters and volunteers that grows stronger each day, committed to upholding the district’s Democratic values.
On Saturday, nearly 400 attendees gathered in Huntington Beach for a high-energy rally led by Min and Clinton, alongside U.S. Representatives Judy Chu, Marilyn Strickland, and Jill Tokuda, actor Ken Jeong, and California Democratic Party Chair Rusty Hicks. Min addressed recent acts of bigotry, including the defacing of his campaign signs with racist slurs and policies by the Huntington Beach City Council that target inclusivity. Local officials, including Huntington Beach Councilmembers Rhonda Bolton, Dan Kalmick, and Natalie Moser, along with Ocean View School Board Trustee Gina Clayton-Tarvin, attended in support of Min’s message.
Following the rally, a massive district-wide canvassing push began, with volunteers reaching thousands of doors to discuss Min’s vision for CA-47.
The rally followed a star-studded fundraiser Friday night in Laguna Niguel, where Clinton underscored the national importance of the CA-47 race and rallied the crowd around Min’s values of inclusivity, patriotism, and service to others. “This race is about more than just one district,” Min said. “It’s about ensuring that our values of inclusion, freedom, and service prevail.”
The weekend continued Saturday afternoon with the DCCC-sponsored “AAPI Voters Matter” event at Min’s Irvine campaign office, which brought together Reps. Chu, Strickland, and Tokuda. Around 100 attendees joined for a panel discussion on AAPI representation in politics, followed by a buffet of AAPI treats and boba. The event showcased the diversity within the AAPI diaspora and the need for more representation in Congress. Min would be the first Korean-American to serve in California’s Congressional delegation and only the third Korean-American elected to the US House of Representatives.
The momentum carried into Sunday with another rally and canvass featuring Rep. Robert Garcia, Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, Costa Mesa Mayor John Stephens, Costa Mesa Councilmember Jeff Harlan, alongside the hosts of the wildly popular liberal show Pod Save America Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor. Hundreds of volunteers gathered to canvass, marking a powerful conclusion to the weekend’s events.
By the end of the weekend, Min’s campaign had knocked on a record-breaking 10,000 doors across CA-47, showing the community’s determination to bring Min’s vision to Washington and advance an inclusive future for the district.
