Dave Min Wins CA-47
IRVINE, CA —Today, Dave Min was declared the winner of the highly contested race for Congress in California’s 47th Congressional District by Decision Desk HQ. The former UC Irvine Law Professor, who is finishing out his first term in the California State Senate, emerged victorious despite a massive barrage of outside super PAC spending aimed at trying to take him out in the primary and general elections. While there are still many ballots being counted, the latest tally of votes by the Orange County Registrar of Voters has made clear that Min will finish as the winner of this crucial swing seat being vacated by current Rep. Katie Porter.
“I am honored and humbled to have been elected by the majority of voters in California’s 47th Congressional District, but I am going to Washington, DC with eyes wide open. We are facing the struggle of our lives to try to defend this country and its most cherished legacies and democratic institutions. But I want to be clear—we are not giving up on America, and we cannot give up on America. As the child of immigrants who survived the Korean War, I owe everything I have to this country. In Congress, I will carry on the fight to protect our democracy, safeguard our freedoms, and expand the economic opportunity at the heart of the American Dream.
I want to thank my wife Jane and our three children for inspiring me every day to do what’s right, and my family and friends for their moral support through this campaign. And I want to thank all of the many people out there, including my campaign staff and the many thousands of you who volunteered for us, donated to us, and gave us your blood, sweat, and tears, for your support.
You have my pledge on this—I will continue to stand up for our rights, including the reproductive rights of women, and to fight for a stronger and better future for young people, including creating more affordable housing, reducing gun violence, and doing all we can to rescue our civilization from the climate crisis. The fight has just begun.”
