Dave Min Massively Outraises Scott Baugh in Q2 Fundraising
IRVINE, CA —In one of the most closely watched contests of the 2024 cycle, State Senator Dave Min dominated his competition in the second quarter of 2024, more than doubling the amount raised by his Republican opponent Scott Baugh, raising more than $1.38 million as compared to Baugh’s $540k . The numbers are even more lopsided on closer examination, as Min received donations from over 7,500 donors, with 82% of online donations coming from first time donors, showing a grassroots fundraising program that is just beginning to hit its stride. Meanwhile, Baugh has continued to suffer one of the worst fundraising drops within the Republican Party since Kevin McCarthy lost the gavel, despite taking significant amounts of money from his allies in Big Oil, Big Tobacco and the gun industry.
“The momentum behind this campaign is incredible,” said Dan Driscoll, Min’s campaign manager. “Voters are inspired by Dave’s record of expanding abortion rights, working to lower costs, ensure economic opportunity and crack down on corruption. They know that Dave will fight the MAGA agenda in Washington, because he’s been doing it here at home.”
A powerhouse fundraiser, Min has also assembled an impressive coalition of support. In addition to being on the DCCC’s Red to Blue List of priority challengers for the House, Senator Min is endorsed by outgoing Rep. Katie Porter and over 50 local elected officials. He is the consensus choice of Police–having been endorsed by PORAC, CA FOP, LAPPL and AOCDS–as well as Teachers, Firefighters, and Organized Labor, with major endorsements including the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the International Association of Firefighters, SEIU, AFSCME, Teamsters, AFL-CIO, and the California Labor Federation.
