CALIFORNIA LABOR FEDERATION BACKS DAVE MIN
IRVINE, CA — It's official: this past weekend, the California Labor Federation–the state’s arm of the AFL-CIO–voted to endorse Dave Min in the 47th Congressional District.
“It is truly a privilege to serve the working people of Orange County as their representative in Sacramento,” said State Senator Dave Min. “I’m honored to know that the 2.1 million hardworking AFL-CIO members in California have my back, and I look forward to taking their fight to Washington, DC.”
The California Labor Federation is made up of more than 1,200 unions, representing 2.1 million union members in manufacturing, retail, construction, hospitality, public sector, health care, entertainment and other industries, per their records. Their stated mission is to promote and defend the interests of working people and their families for the betterment of California’s communities.
This announcement continues State Senator Dave Min’s incredible momentum, as he has racked up a slew of major endorsements in the past few months, including from the California Democratic Party, Equality CA, the Southern California Armenian Democrats, NeverAgain CA, PORAC, UFCW, IBEW, OCEA, NUHW, the Laborers, the Carpenters, and a host of others. Min is the unanimous choice of organized labor in this race, as he is the only candidate to receive support from national, statewide, and local unions. Min received early endorsements from Rep. Katie Porter, the outgoing incumbent, as well as from Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the California Federation of Teachers, and over 150 local, state, and federal officials. A full endorsement list is available here.

California’s 47th is an open Congressional District in Orange County that includes the Cities of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Newport Beach, and Seal Beach, and portions of Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, and Laguna Woods. Incumbent Katie Porter is vacating the seat to run for U.S. Senate. In 2022, Porter defeated former Assemblymember Republican Scott Baugh by 3.44% in this “toss-up” district. State Senator Dave Min currently represents over 80% of Congressional District 47 in Sacramento. In 2020, Min received over 158,000 votes within CA-47, defeating incumbent John Moorlach by 5.15% in this area. 19% of the registered voters in CA-47 are of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, including one of the largest Korean-American populations in the country.
