California High School Democrats Endorse Dave Min

IRVINE, CA — Today, the California High School Democrats announced their endorsement of Dave Min for Congress, citing his strong Democratic values and policy experience on issues important to young voters, including abortion, gun violence, and climate change. Dave Min, a former UC Irvine law professor who has spent his career in public service and is currently serving in the California State Senate, has been a vocal advocate and remarkably effective legislator on these issues.

“Young Democrats will be essential in next year’s fight to win back the House,” said Nicolas Kiet Quach, President of the California High School Democrats. “High schoolers have the energy and the values to hit the ground running for candidates we believe in, and Dave Min is certainly one of those. With a long track record of advocating for issues we care about—from abortion, to gun violence prevention, and halting the effects of climate change—we know Dave Min will be our champion in Washington, and we’re excited to offer him our support.”

California High School Democrats (CAHSD) is a statewide political organization that serves as a gateway to political involvement for high school students. CAHSD leads hundreds of members who work from a local level to advance the values of the Democratic Party, engage fellow students in political activism, and elect Democrats to public office at the local, state, and federal level. They also participate in voter registration initiatives and other political activities.

This endorsement builds on Senator Min’s incredible momentum in his campaign to keep this seat Blue. Last week, Min received the coveted endorsement of the Los Angeles Times. He is also endorsed by outgoing Rep. Katie Porter, as well as the California Democratic Party, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, California Environmental Voters, and over 150 local, state, and federal officials. Min is the unanimous choice of organized labor in this race, as he is the only candidate to receive support from national, statewide, and local unions, and he is the only candidate endorsed in this race by the California Labor Federation or the AFL-CIO. Incumbent Katie Porter is vacating the seat to run for U.S. Senate. In 2022, Porter defeated former Assemblymember Republican Scott Baugh by 3.44% in this “toss-up” district. State Senator Dave Min currently represents over 80% of Congressional District 47 in Sacramento. In 2020, Min received over 158,000 votes within CA-47, defeating incumbent John Moorlach by 5.15% in this area. 19% of the registered voters in CA-47 are of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, including one of the largest Korean-American populations in the country.
