Over 50 California State Legislators Endorse Dave Min
IRVINE, CA — Today, 51 California state legislators endorsed Orange County State Senator Dave Min in California’s 47th Congressional District. Senator Min also has received strong early endorsements from ASPIRE PAC– the political arm of the Congressional Asian and Pacific American Caucus– and the sitting incumbent Congresswoman Katie Porter, who is vacating the seat to run for the U.S. Senate.
The impressive list of legislators includes members from the California Legislative Women's Caucus, Black Caucus, Latino Caucus, Jewish Caucus, LGBTQ Caucus, and the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, a true representation of the great diversity of California and the Democratic Party.
These legislative leaders, who represent a broad and diverse array of political interests, spoke specifically to concrete actions Min has taken to address the challenges Californians are facing.
“Dave has been an incredible ally, advocate, and partner in championing legislation to protect and improve health care, and ensure reproductive rights for all California women. His leadership on ending domestic violence and ensuring survivors have every means of support in their recovery, has been critical as we seek true justice and meaningful opportunity for all California women and girls. I am proud to endorse him for Congress, and look forward to continuing our important work together.”
- State Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins
“We have all heard politicians make promises, but Dave is a leader who delivered. As our country and state witness unprecedented levels of gun violence, Dave built upon a campaign promise to end gun shows at the Orange County fairgrounds, to successfully end gun shows at fairgrounds across California. Dave and I are both fathers to young children. We're working to build a safer, healthier California and I strongly endorse him for Congress."
- Speaker of the Assembly Anthony Rendon
“As the son of Korean immigrants who realized the American Dream here in California, Dave understands the importance of preserving and protecting that ladder of opportunity for generations to come. During the mortgage crisis, Dave held Wall Street accountable to protect California homeowners, and, during COVID-19, secured billions of dollars in funding to aid struggling families and mom-and-pop businesses across our state. Winning one of the most competitive congressional seats in the country requires an upstanding, proven leader. That is exactly who Dave Min is and has always been.”
- Speaker Designate of the Assembly Robert Rivas

Senator Min, the only Korean-American in the state legislature has proven himself an incredibly effective legislative leader in the Senate, authoring 16 bills signed into law by the Governor, including leading legislation on hate crimes, gun violence prevention, family safety, and women’s reproductive rights. In the wake of the 2021 Huntington Beach Oil Spill, he stood up to the oil industry and led efforts to end offshore drilling. Min serves as Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee and as Senate Vice Chair of the Asian and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus. He previously chaired the Senate Cybersecurity Select Committee.
Before entering the State Senate, Min was a law professor at UC Irvine, where he taught and researched in the area of business law. He resides with his wife Jane and their three children in Irvine.

State Senator Dave Min currently represents over 80% of Congressional District 47 in Sacramento. In 2020, Min received over 158,000 votes within CA-47, defeating incumbent John Moorlach by 4.3%. 19% of the registered voters in CA-47 are of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, including one of the largest Korean-American populations in the country.
