State Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris Endorses Dave Min for State Senate
Orange County, Calif. — TODAY, UC Irvine Law Professor Dave Min, who is running in California’s State Senate District 37 against anti-vaccination conspiracy theorist John Moorlach, announced his endorsement by California State Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, who represents California’s 74th Assembly District in the heart of Orange County. AD 74 is entirely situated inside of Senate District 37, sharing the communities of Irvine, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, and Newport Beach.
“Dave Min has been a strong advocate for women throughout his career and has long been a champion for harassment-free workplaces,” said Assemblymember Petrie-Norris. “With the partnership of his wife Jane, a leading expert on domestic violence, Dave will fight to protect a woman’s right to choose, expand family leave, and ensure equal pay for equal work. I am proud to endorse Dave Min, and I look forward to working with him on these issues when he is in the State Legislature.”
Petrie-Norris’ endorsement comes on the heels of a string of strong endorsements from local leaders, including Congressmembers Katie Porter, Harley Rouda and Mike Levin, who all represent parts of Orange County.
“I’m proud to be supported by Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, who has been a strong advocate for Orange County families,” said Min.“I am excited to work with her to create a stronger local economy, protect our coastlines, and increase access to reproductive care.”
David Min is a University of California Irvine Law Professor, father of three, and a former economic policy staffer in the United States Senate and for the Center for American Progress. Min began his legal career at the Securities and Exchange Commission to protect the retirement security of seniors, turning down high paying jobs to serve the public interest. He is a leading economic expert whose research focuses on banking and housing policy.
California State Senate District 37 is located in Orange County and includes the communities of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Orange, Tustin, and Villa Park and is ranked by political handicappers as a “toss up.” The incumbent career politician John Moorlach, an unwavering Trump supporter and anti-vaccination proponent, was soundly rejected by a majority of voters in the March 3, 2020 primary election.
