Laborers Endorse Dave Min for Congress
IRVINE, CA — Dave Min for Congress announced today that the 500,000 members—including more than 70,000 Californians—of the Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA) have chosen to endorse his campaign. Following Sunday’s formal endorsement of Dave Min by the California Democratic Party, it is clear he is the Democrat to beat going into next November’s general election.
“I am humbled by the support of the Laborers,” said Senator Min. “These are the highly skilled workers who build our infrastructure—our roads, our bridges, our solar plants and wind farms. As we seek to transition to a 21st century economy, we need to make sure that the workers who build these critical infrastructure projects are not being left behind. I’m proud to stand with the 500,000 strong members of LiUNA, and look forward to advocating for more strong investments in our green infrastructure in Congress.”
This endorsement builds on the massive groundswell of support from working people who are backing Min’s Congressional campaign. State Senator Min has also been recommended for the AFL-CIO’s endorsement by the Orange County Labor Federation, and is the unanimous choice of labor. In the past few months, he has been the only Democrat in this race to receive new endorsements from important organizations. Recently, Min has announced major endorsements from Equality CA, the Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD), the California School Employees Association (CSEA), NeverAgainCA, the Communication Workers of America, the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW), the Orange County Employees Association (OCEA), the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS), and many others. A full endorsement list is available here.
“We appreciate your devotion to the cause of our members, their families and of all working people,” said Ernesto J. Ordonez, Vice President and Pacific Southwest Regional Manager for LiUNA. “We trust that you will represent the public with integrity, passion and an unwavering commitment to act in the best interest of our communities. We look forward to assisting your campaign to ensure your election.”
LiUNA is a longstanding institution in American labor, with its roots going back to the early 1800s. Today, LiUNA represents roughly half a million skilled and trained union workers in the construction and energy industries as well as a wide array of public employee jobs.
