CA Senator Kamala Harris Endorses UCI Law Professor Dave Min for State Senate District 37
Orange County, Calif. — TODAY, UC Irvine Law Professor Dave Min, who is running in California’s State Senate District 37 against anti-vaccination conspiracy theorist John Moorlach, announced the endorsement of California Senator Kamala Harris.
“Dave Min has dedicated his career to public service. In these uncertain economic times, we need leaders who will fight for a fair economy for everyone, and have the ability to implement thoughtful policies to reach this goal,” said Senator Harris. “Dave Min has that track record. Whether it was his time at the Securities and Exchange Commission cracking down on corporate fraud or his work during the financial crisis to prevent foreclosures and hold Wall Street accountable, Dave has been a loud and consistent voice for working Californians. We need Dave’s leadership in Sacramento. I am proud to endorse Dave Min to be that leader for Orange County in the California State Senate.”
The endorsement of Senator Harris comes on the heels of endorsements from the California Democratic Party, Sierra Club, and the State Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins.
“I am humbled to have the support of one of my sheroes,” said Min. “At a time when too many of our elected leaders have chosen to side with ideological extremists, Senator Harris stands out for her principled leadership and her advocacy for evidence-based policies. I look forward to working with her to develop solutions that help our families and our businesses here in Orange County, including quality health care for all and an economy where everyone gets a fair shot.”
David Min is a University of California Irvine Law Professor, father of three, and a former economic policy staffer in the United States Senate and for the Center for American Progress. Min began his legal career at the Securities and Exchange Commission to protect the retirement security of seniors, turning down high paying jobs to serve the public interest. He is a leading economic expert whose research focuses on banking and housing policy.
California State Senate District 37 is located in Orange County and includes the communities of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Newport Beach, Orange, Tustin, and Villa Park and is ranked by political handicappers as a “toss up.” The incumbent career politician John Moorlach, an unwavering Trump supporter and anti-vaccination proponent, was soundly rejected by a majority of voters in the March 3, 2020 primary election.
